One of the many interesting plantings. I took another pic with the name of the plant - but it didn't turn out well enough to see. Figures.
I think this one was Red Fountain Grass. Very pretty.
Okay be prepared - lots of flower shots (of course).
At least some of my pics of signs turned out. This is for the following picture.
Flowering onion of course.
One "leaf" from a Chinese palm - they were huge!
A glass building called the Orangerie (I think) Pretty cool looking.
Inside the glass building looking up of course. It was a warm day outside, but not especially hot in the glass house.
Looking from one end to the other. I wonder if they bring plants in here for the winter. It looks like they were setting up for a dinner or something.
A fountain inside the glass building.
Cute little door. I'm guessing it's a closet.
Cool tree. I had to severely crop this because of all the junk sitting around it - love the base of this tree though.
Close up of the fountain head.
Out the other side of the glass house. Very very very sunny as you can see - definitely blown highlights, but there was no help for it.
Really cool fountains everywhere on the grounds. This is one of the main fountains and it's gorgeous.
Statuary everywhere too. Loved this little guy with the grapes and wine glass.
Another cute statue. The rabbit cracks me up.
The daylillies are in full bloom at this time of year. There were many colors, I've taken pics of most of them.
Love the colors on this one.
There were many many many of what I call plant conglomerations. This is but one.
An attempted close up of the flower in the last pic.
A smaller fountain.
A pretty double hedge. We believed the large bushes are a type of holly and of course ornamental grass in front.
A sign! Verbena. There were many types and they were all beautiful.
Love the colors of these.
Huge urn statue.
Base of the flagpole.
The flag gets its place of honor on top of a hill. Tremendous views from there - even if they don't translate well to pictures.
There were many little covered sitting areas. This was one with a great view even though it was so bright the view behind is totally blown out.
This is some sort of art work - it said so on the plaque.
A lovely view of Mount Wachusett and Wachussett Reservoir.
Again with the view and no distracting rail line in front.
There are trails through the woods. This tree was right next to the trail. Looks like it broke not too long ago.
This is a path - watch your step.
Wachusett Reservoir again - lots of different views up there.
The Pliney fountain.
A bit closer.
An explanation of the naming of the fountain.
Cool bunch of trees or maybe just one tree split up.
Those split trunks become these very tall trees.
